‘’Within Oliver, I can continue to grow, and that's very important to me. If I couldn't keep learning and growing, my work would quickly become monotonous and perhaps boring.’’

My name is Karol, and I've been working at Oliver Healthcare Packaging for about four years now. I started my career in the Warehouse, but currently, I work as a Machine Operator. 

I always strive to keep growing, so if I feel like I can't grow anymore in a certain role, I'm always willing to switch to something new and challenge myself.

Spontaneous move to the Netherlands

Six years ago, I moved to the Netherlands. A colleague offered to take me to the Netherlands, where he already had a house and promised me a job. Everything was arranged within twenty minutes, and two weeks later, we departed for the Netherlands. It was truly a spontaneous decision. My wife is also Polish, but I met her in the Netherlands. She had to change jobs and ended up at Oliver. After six months, she told me that Oliver was a good company and that it might be something for me too. That's how I came to Oliver.

Continuing to grow at Oliver

Since then, I've been working happily at Oliver. Every day is different, especially with the new machines. Those new machines also bring new challenges every day, and I find that enjoyable because it keeps the work from being boring. Together with my team, we prepare the machines daily, get them ready, and fulfill orders. Collaboration is essential because you can't do this alone.

Soon, there will be new machines, and I'm looking forward to it because I always like learning new things. That way, I can continue to develop and grow within my role. For example, if in ten years, I feel like I can't grow and learn anymore, that's a reason for me to look into a new position. 

Different shifts

We work in two shifts, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm. I enjoy working both shifts. One week, I have the morning shift, and the other week, I have the afternoon shift. With the morning shift, you work five days, and with the afternoon shift, you have Fridays off. So both shifts have their advantages.

Social activities

Outside of work, there's fortunately also time for relaxation. On Fridays, we always organize sports activities, alternating between soccer and volleyball. Additionally, I enjoy fishing, paintballing, and bowling. We organize a paintball outing every two to three months, where we play not only with Oliver colleagues but also with people from other companies.

Oliver also regularly organizes company parties, where everyone is equal. It doesn't matter if you're in management or work on the production floor; during these parties, we all treat each other the same. This is something I really appreciate about the company. We can always laugh together and enjoy each other's company.

Better working conditions at Oliver

The colleague from Poland with whom I came to the Netherlands used to work at another company in a different province, where he had to work extremely long days and thus had little free time. When I told him about the working conditions at Oliver, where we work 8 hours a day and still have plenty of free time, he was immediately convinced. Now he also works at Oliver and enjoys a better balance between work and private life.
