My name is Monika and I’ve been working in logistics at Oliver Healthcare Packaging for about six months.
Before I joined Oliver, I worked in a different sector. When I came across an email from Oliver saying they were looking for people for the Quality department, it immediately felt like an opportunity that suited me better. I decided to send an open application and was hired. From the start, it felt familiar here. At Oliver, there’s space for who I am, and I feel seen and appreciated. What’s also very important to me: I can combine my job with my personal life in a way that feels right. That balance really makes all the difference for me.
One week I work the early shift, the next the late shift, and every two weeks I have Friday off. That free Friday is worth gold to me. It gives me time to recharge, enjoy my hobbies and simply have a long weekend. This not only boosts my energy but also helps me approach my work with greater focus and enjoyment.
I started learning Dutch because of my neighbor
I’ve lived in the Netherlands for about seventeen to eighteen years, but I didn’t start learning Dutch right away. It wasn’t until I realized I couldn’t communicate with my elderly neighbor—he only spoke Dutch—that I decided to improve my Dutch. He and I didn’t understand each other, and that was the moment I thought: it’s time to really learn the language. I took classes for two years, and since then I’ve been able to communicate well in Dutch, English, and Polish. That also makes it easier to work with my colleagues, since at Oliver we work with people from many different countries.
A true sense of team at Oliver
What I really appreciate at Oliver is the collaboration. Everyone is helpful, we laugh together, and we support each other whenever needed. If I run into something, I’m never on my own. We solve things together. To me, that’s the true meaning of ‘Win as a Team’. It’s not just a slogan, it’s something we practice every day.
Being creative outside of work
Outside of work, I have a passion for working with epoxy. My husband and I make all kinds of items, from small tables to lamps and coasters. It’s a creative activity that brings me a lot of joy. Sometimes colleagues ask if I can make something for them, and I enjoy that. It gives me the chance to do something different and clear my mind.
Proud of my work and what I’ve achieved
When I look back on the past six months at Oliver, I feel proud. Not because of one moment that changed everything, but because I enjoy my work every day, I feel valued, and I know my contribution matters. At Oliver, I can be myself and that’s the most important thing to me.
