Senior Technical Services Engineer, EMEA Region – improving solutions that protect patients (Technical Center, Galway, Ireland)
As a Senior Technical Services Engineer (1 FTE) at Oliver, you work within our Technical Center in Galway, where engineering meets real-world applications. You are not only supporting from the lab or behind a desk, you are directly working with customers, products, and processes to ensure performance in practice.
We produce medical and pharmaceutical packaging used worldwide. That means quality, reliability, and compliance are critical. Your work directly impacts on how our materials and designs perform in real-life applications and ultimately helps ensure patient safety.

What you’ll be working on
Supporting customers with technical expertise
You help customers select and apply the right materials and packaging solutions for their specific applications.
- Advise on material selection, packaging design, and application performance
- Support troubleshooting, line trials, and implementation at customer sites
- Present technical product data and translate it into practical solutions
- Act as a trusted partner for customers in resolving technical challenges
Driving technical projects and improvements
You take ownership of technical projects and ensure structured, data-driven execution.
- Lead and support technical projects and CAPA investigations of medium to high complexity
- Analyze data to identify improvement opportunities in product design and performance
- Support validation activities and product evaluations together with R&D, Operations, and Engineering
- Contribute to continuous improvement of materials, designs, and processes
Connecting engineering, quality, and commercial teams
You work across functions to ensure the right technical choices are made and applied correctly.
- Support Sales with technical expertise during customer discussions and proposals
- Work closely with Quality on CAPA investigations and product performance topics
- Collaborate with R&D, Operations and Process Engineering on trials and validations
- Contribute to technical documentation such as data sheets, test results, and reports
- Support product marketing by contributing to blogs, webinars, and in-person customer education events
Building knowledge and capability
You help strengthen the technical capability within the team.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers and lab technicians
- Share knowledge on test methods, materials, and applications
- Support the development of clear and effective technical documentation

What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in a technical or engineering role
- Strong knowledge of sterile barrier flexible packaging design and performance
- Experience with quality systems and tools such as CAPA, DFMEA, DOE, and SPC
- Familiar with medical device standards (ISO 13485 / ISO 11607)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work with technical data
- Clear communication skills and ability to explain technical topics pragmatically
- Ability to work effectively across teams and with customers
