My name is Twan, and I’ve been working at Oliver Healthcare Packaging for about three years as an SRD and graphic specialist.
I ended up here through a former colleague I once worked with at a printing company in Tegelen. He told me Oliver was looking for someone with graphic expertise. “Maybe this is something for you,” he said. And he was right. I now work here with great enjoyment, in a fun team with supportive colleagues and new challenges every day.
I start early, usually around six, and I’m done at two-thirty. That works well for me, because it leaves time for other things, like music and sports. And the advantage is: our department is reachable all day long, since we all start at different times.
Internationally, the connection is just as strong. We have daily check-ins with the graphic team in the United States and a weekly meeting with all sites. It helps us align our processes and learn from each other. What works well there, we can adopt here. There’s also contact with the new facility in Malaysia. They’re still in development, but it’s great to see how they’re growing.
The core value Win as a Team shows up in my work every single day. We truly operate as one, whether that’s with colleagues in Venray or on the other side of the ocean.
In addition to my daily work, I’m part of the Continuous Improvement team. Together, we look at how we can produce products correctly the first time: First Time Right. We do this with colleagues from all departments, planning, quality, CCR, purchasing, everyone provides input. We don’t only focus on new products, but also on how existing products can be produced more efficiently or quickly. That saves time and increases quality. The best part is that it helps us understand each other better and continuously learn.
Every Wednesday, I step into the cleanroom to talk to people. Just to ask how things are going and whether anything is coming up. I also try to speak a few words in someone’s own language—Polish, Turkish, whatever it may be. It breaks the ice and shows appreciation.
Outside of work, I’m active in sports and music. I’ve been part of a music association for fifty years and play in a Czech brass band. I also cycle and run a lot, often together with my daughter.
I find that same balance at Oliver. I get the freedom to do my work in my own way. And people are well taken care of: fresh fruit, a food truck with fries, a discount at the gym. It may seem small, but it really makes a difference.
What I value most at Oliver is the commitment. Everyone helps each other. If something isn’t going well, there’s always someone who thinks along with you. That openness and team spirit make me enjoy coming to work every day.
There are moments when I feel especially proud. Sometimes you think: this project is going to be a tough one. And then it works out after all, with compliments from the customer. That’s incredibly rewarding.
My advice for new colleagues? Go for it! Oliver is a great company, with wonderful people and a positive atmosphere. You learn a lot here and truly become part of the team.
